The Hubs’s Birthday

Whilst we’re on the topic of Mom, this week, I finally found out that Mom had been planning in the last 2 weeks to make a gourmet meal of American Mexican food for the Hubs. She knows he hates rice and because it is his birthday, she is painstakingly researching and sourcing for all ingredients Mexican just to surprise him with this wonderful home cooked meal. In fact, even in our day to day lives, she always takes the Hubs into consideration when she cooks us our dinners.

How many Mother-In-Laws would plan a special meal for their son-in-laws let alone their own sons?! Not many, I can assure you. To go way out of her way to do this is indeed touching.

She asked me yesterday, “So what’s happening for his birthday?”

I hadn’t even come that far! I’m a busy Mom with 2 girls and seriously, the most I could have done was to go out for dinner. Then she told me that she’d wanted to cook him this meal. No wonder she kept asking me about all things Mexican, like what’s a Tortilla? What’s the difference between a Tortilla, Fajita and Burrito? Have you got a good Guacamole recipe? Blablablalabla…..I wondered what the sudden interest was in Mexican food? Now I know.

The Hubs is so lucky to have an MIL like Mom. And honestly, if both my brothers married good women who truly loved them to the ends of their worlds, Mom would be just as Mom would be to me. I know it.

Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett BSc in Architecture. She spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this Mamapumpkin blog since over 10 years ago and thereafter returned to the Corporate World stronger than ever. Her last job as Country Director of a British Railway Signalling organisation saw her getting ill with an aortal and mitral heart valve regurgitation and early stage cancer. Through her journey from working to not working to working again, she sets out to prove to all women that they can do anything and everything that they set out to do; as long as they have that fire of desire burning within and the drive to work hard. Even better with oodles of love, passion and integrity.

Despite being ill, she has grown a network marketing business from very little knowledge and experience in the otherwise infamously known MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, racing from an income of ZERO to RM 100,000 monthly in merely 2 years. She is a firm believer of the MLM business model but realises the pitfalls too and understands how and why the majority of people would shy away (or zoom far away) from any MLM business.

She is now pondering the title of her new book, From Zero to 100,000 RM monthly in 2 years and has a sequel in the pipeline with the aim of helping real professionals succeed in the World of MLM. Always the giver, Mamapumpkin has supported orphans for over 30 years and has now extended her care to the sick, single mothers, and even struggling families. She believes that with the MLM business model, we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world.

A beautiful life without limits.

Mamapumpkin currently manages the Homeschooling Hub Malaysia on Facebook. She also runs Working Women Malaysia (not THAT kind of Working Women!), Mamapumpkin - Creating A Life of Abundance, and Funky Moms on Facebook to offer REAL support to all women who want career and life success. She is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially free has enabled her to travel the world anytime anywhere doing anything, and she spends most of her day to day with her children, reading and supporting other women.

  1. Your mum is beautiful on the outside and in. I previously said that the girls are fortunate to have such a doting nana. Now, may I add that your hubs is also very fortunate to have such a lovely woman as his mother-in-law. 🙂 Cooking him a meal based on the little knowledge that she has on the cuisine, is truly a gesture that surpasses any presents that can be bought with money.

  2. Do u think it’s easier to be a mil to a son in law? Rather than to a daughter in law? Hmmm.. Judging fr my experience as a dil.. ^__^. I mean it must been hard for my mil. Hahaha.

  3. Your mom is a true ‘mother’, always taking into consideration the family’s wellbeing, and loving you all to bits and she’s setting a good example for all of you to follow. You are indeed lucky and blessed and I’m sure you’ll do the same for your family too in future. God bless yr mom 🙂

  4. My mom is the same. She makes all my DH’s fav dish when we visit her
