Now that my dearest 5 year old is sleep trained (I highly recommend it to all you mother’s out there who feel like you spend way too much time putting your little ones to sleep), I am now less stressed as I get to have a few extra hours of ‘me’ time or husband and wife time every day.
Are you envious?
I am dead serious. If you haven’t yet sleep trained your child, do it now! Nothing else has changed between my relationship with Tee. We are still the best of friends. In fact, she is now even more confident and brave, showing off to the world that she can sleep on her own without having Mommy lie next to her for several minutes/hours/days……
For the last few nights, the Hubs and I have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves catching up on the movies that we’ve missed all year. It is really relaxing, just the two of us, legs on top of each other snuggled up under our duvet, chilling to mindless entertainment. I love it. And if I didn’t have so much work to accomplish tonight, I wouldn’t even be here right now.
SLEEP TRAIN YOUR CHILD TODAY.
It is the best thing for your child too as research shows. Read the sleep book by Marc Weissbluth which says in short that if your child doesn’t get enough sleep, they start losing their brain cells.

Wasn’t T getting enough sleep? I thought that by sleep training you meant teaching her to sleep on her own, in her own room (she used to sleep all night your bed, right?). Was she sleeping very late?
Not all children who need a parent to help them sleep are necessarily sleeping late. R is asleep at about 8-8.30 and gets up every morning at 7.45. That’s almost 12 hours sleep – plenty! She sleeps in her own room since very little but still wants me to lie down next to her. As long as she sleeps early and well it doesn’t bother me. Soon enough she will kick me out
