The Hubs’s Birthday
By bigpumpkin | November 4, 2009
Whilst we’re on the topic of Mom, this week, I finally found out that Mom had been planning in the last 2 weeks to make a gourmet meal of American Mexican food for the Hubs. She knows he hates rice and because it is his birthday, she is painstakingly researching and sourcing for all ingredients Mexican just to surprise him with this wonderful home cooked meal. In fact, even in our day to day lives, she always takes the Hubs into consideration when she cooks us our dinners.
How many Mother-In-Laws would plan a special meal for their son-in-laws let alone their own sons?! Not many, I can assure you. To go way out of her way to do this is indeed touching.
She asked me yesterday, “So what’s happening for his birthday?”
I hadn’t even come that far! I’m a busy Mom with 2 girls and seriously, the most I could have done was to go out for dinner. Then she told me that she’d wanted to cook him this meal. No wonder she kept asking me about all things Mexican, like what’s a Tortilla? What’s the difference between a Tortilla, Fajita and Burrito? Have you got a good Guacamole recipe? Blablablalabla…..I wondered what the sudden interest was in Mexican food? Now I know.
The Hubs is so lucky to have an MIL like Mom. And honestly, if both my brothers married good women who truly loved them to the ends of their worlds, Mom would be just as Mom would be to me. I know it.

Your mum is beautiful on the outside and in. I previously said that the girls are fortunate to have such a doting nana. Now, may I add that your hubs is also very fortunate to have such a lovely woman as his mother-in-law.
Cooking him a meal based on the little knowledge that she has on the cuisine, is truly a gesture that surpasses any presents that can be bought with money.

Do u think it’s easier to be a mil to a son in law? Rather than to a daughter in law? Hmmm.. Judging fr my experience as a dil.. ^__^. I mean it must been hard for my mil. Hahaha.

Your mom is a true ‘mother’, always taking into consideration the family’s wellbeing, and loving you all to bits and she’s setting a good example for all of you to follow. You are indeed lucky and blessed and I’m sure you’ll do the same for your family too in future. God bless yr mom
