Because Tee is about to perform at the Actor’s Studio for her piano recital next month, she wanted to get a new dress, or should I say….GOWN….as she calls it, as she saw her friend wearing a gown one other day and when asked where she was wearing it to, her friend’s Mom replied that they were going for her piano concert.

We (meaning our household) are on a tight budget and have no intentions on spending unnecessarily. Besides, Tee has an entire designer wardrobe filled with clothes she may never even wear as she doesn’t have enough days to wear them! So the answer was a clear no.

Then the girl tells me, “Let’s MAKE the gown, just like Annie’s! Then we can save money.” I liked the good intentions but when I called Annie’s mother to enquire about said gown since Tee said she wanted it to look exactly like it, the answer knocked me out. RM600!!! For a kid!!! RM300 for the material (dual coloured pink chiffon) and RM300 for tailoring at BSC!!! NO WAY!!!

What does Tee do next? Call her NANA, of course………and Nana says without thinking, of course we’ll get her a new gown, not even asking how much it was going to cost. I called Nana back and told her that I’m fine if she wanted to get Tee her new piano gown (the definition of gown to Tee means a dress that reaches the floor) but there was no way she was going to spend more than RM200 on it. RM200 MAX!!! For a kid, that’s lots.

Nana, being Nana….simply ignores me. She doesn’t say yes, she doesn’t say no. It completely infuriates me. Anyway, we went out shopping for a gown and Nana told Tee that if she really couldn’t find a gown she liked, then we’d tailor it. SO SPOILT.

So my dearest Tee, she gets to have a personal dresser even on that shopping day in search for her gown. Now, having known us for so long, which do you think was Tee’s favourite and which do you think we ended up buying???
