….Talk is cheap….take it with a pinch of salt!
Last weekend, the Hubs and I had a mission to give our bedroom a BIG spring clean. This meant hoovering the entire bedroom from ceiling to floor, to picture rails to the back of pictures, to curtain rails to fans and lights, to the backs of furniture to cupboard grooves and surfaces. It also meant cleaning the mattresses and pillows from dust mites, getting the curtains washed and cleaned and changing the linen of every single item of soft furnishing in the room. Then we had to clean up the entire bathroom as well.
Tall order? I forecasted it to be a 2 hour affair but once we got organised with Tee’s help, we took less than that BUT the amazing point to note is that Tee asked to do a clean up again because she had had such a great time!!!
Her job was to remove all the pillow cases from the pillows, remove all the duvet covers and all the bedsheets. Then she had to wipe all the surfaces with a damp cloth before we hoovered them. She also had to wipe down all the toiletries in the bathroom without breaking any bottles. Later, she had to put on all the new pillow cases and arrange the toiletries in a certain order. She had also magic-mopped the floor before we hoovered. Because of her hard work, we managed to finish the task in just over an hour. It was great timing! I honestly thought it was going to take forever.
Mind you, we have about a dozen pillows on our two beds so there was quite a lot of work for her to do but she did it, despite sweating and dancing and chatting at it. We were so proud of her that we took her out for a great day the next day.
Once upon a time, I designed buildings and interiors of corporate offices and on the rare occasion, homes. Now, I clean poop and am student of a patience management course. From the drawing board as a London Architect to the realities of Motherhood, I have certainly learned many lessons in humility. And then others.....
To succeed in the corporate world, first succeed with your kid as the happy boss. Seriously.
This blog is about me, Mamapumpkin. A crazy, demented Mom who cares full time, alone, without any help, for an even crazier preschooler AND a baby with a boob addiction problem. *sniff* Someone, please get me a chair.......
I write anything that comes out of my head, mostly without thinking first, which almost always gets me into trouble (according to my husband, also known as the love of my life.......on a good day).
My pet monkeys drive me towards challenge after challenge, 24/7.
Gotta love it.
