This week has been flitting between very hot and very rainy, certainly a recipe for an oncoming cold. Yesterday, it was so hot that I took my top off at home and went about in just a bra. This is one of the real reasons why we have still not gotten a maid. We are a naturist family and roam around scantily clad quite frequently, whether it’s cleaning the windows in our underwear or spreading butter on toast nude. We even run naked on the treadmill and expose our bits to Thomas the Tank and friends.
However, this applies only to the adults in the household.
Tee asked, “Can I take my shirt off too?”
I suspect she was hot too or perhaps just wanted to copy everything I did but I said no. Under no circumstance was she going to be allowed to run around naked. It is an ingrained rule from our ancestors that children should be well clad for fear of catching a cold. It is OK to wear a singlet but NOT go naked.
“But why can you have your shirt off and I can’t?” came the protest which I rebutted authoritatively,
“Because I……. am an adult and I……. can do anything I want. When you…….. become an adult, you……. can do anything you want too.”
And with her cute pouty walnut crinkled face again, she spat,
“Stop showing me a bad example, Mommy….” and huffed off.
