Today at Tee’s Mandarin School, her principal came out to tell me that Tee was cheekily creative. Apparently, they were all made to say in Mandarin that they wanted to go into a particular room for a particular reason (I can’t remember the details as my memory got lost in the gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous La Risata Margherita Pizza that I had for lunch; did I tell you that it was probably the most gorgeous Margherita pizza I’ve ever had?) and Tee answered in Mandarin, “Wo yau chi kan, Mama. Ker yi ma?” (translated as I would like to see my mother, is that ok?) That was not an option.

Tee from Day One, has always like to be different. As evident from the way she wears her mismatched Croc shoes and the way she wants to have five ponytails instead of one or two, or the way she just has to say things differently or sing things differently. That girl of mine, she just absolutely LOVES……………………………..attention.

And believe you me, it’s not like she’s lacking in any of it. We give her TONS of attentions, sometimes too much. The Hubs says it’s genetic.

I don’t think it is a bad thing with Tee because she does not do naughty things in order to gain this attention, in fact, it is more subtle. She just likes to be innovative and laps up the praise when noticed. Big headed? Hell, yeah!!!

I try to keep her grounded by not praising her so much but when she does something I feel is truly amazing, it is warranted. And fortunately or unfortunately, she does come up with some cool stuff every now and then. So I tell myself, just go with the flow…….

How much do you praise your children? And do they crave attention? How much? Yours or strangers? Share, please!!
