Selecting accommodation when visiting Disney World and Universal Studios

    By bigpumpkin | August 22, 2008

How did we choose where to stay when we went? For us it was simple. We were going to get a discount from a family member, so it was either Hotel A or Hotel B, so we chose the better of the two. But otherwise, how would you choose where to stay when in Orlando?

Talk to friends who’ve been there.

I’ve been told not to stay in any of the Disney Hotels that are nearest to Disney itself because for the same price, you could stay in a much nicer hotel that belongs to part of the Universal Studios group. You can see some photos of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel here.

Alternatively, stay in a rented apartment. You’ll need a car but cars are easilly available and in the US, ALL cars have an in-built GPS system that will take you wherever you want to go. I loved that thing!!!
