    Progressing my life

    By bigpumpkin | July 24, 2008

Being a parent is hard. Being a stay at home parent is harder. In a typical day, I have to be my daughter’s chauffeur and sit around waiting for her to be driven to her next destination. If I’m lucky, there is enough time to slip in some errands during that time. Then I have to ensure she is fed three times a day at minimum, make sure she is clean and bathed, her teeth brushed, dressed decently, hair in place, arrange her socks and shoes, ensure she’s taken her vitamins for the day, see that she is generally happy; and then there is still the constant chatter to someone half your height and half your brain with five times your energy. And I STILL have to put her to bed after that, which is an entire task in itself requiring a Shut Eye Manual.

Day in day out, this is my job. This is what I do. AND believe you me, this job requires more than 8 hours. Much more.

Many times, I ask myself, is this it? I want to do something for myself too, like explore some online college courses to further educate myself, learn some new skills, improve my writing and since I’ve found an online university that offers degrees specific to writing capabilities, I am particularly interested - the question is when. When am I going to be able to do something for myself?

a few more years. she will not be small forever. by then, you may look back and miss the days when she was by your side all the time, the closeness, the companionship, the laughters, the memories. :-) just exchange a few more years of your dreams for a bond that you will never regret.
