    New school for Tee

    By bigpumpkin | May 14, 2008

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I suddenly chickened out of Kuen Cheng and decided that it was more important in this world to be really good in English than to be good in Mandarin. All because I found this amazing home school that has produced the finest of pre-schoolers I have ever met. So this is where the creme of the crop send their preschoolers, hushed away in a hilled bungalow on prime land. It isn’t expensive and very impressive. All kids get individual one to one attention and the group is mixed aged. I met a range of children from 2.5 years old to 6 years old. They do autistic children as well, including dyslexia, and any other learning difficulties. The kids, including the 2.5 year old, could all read fluently. They could all write beautifully. And their level of math was Einstein. And the kids were all confident and well mannered. What a dream…….

The school guarantees that Tee would be reading fluently after a month. They’re all medically qualified in there - doctors and nurses from the UK. Funny, eh? How people from the medical profession have resorted to education? They have a better undertanding of child psychology. Very, very interesting. It is not the reading that I’m interested in for Tee (as she can already put words together) but more for the math. I don’t know how they do it. It’s even higher level than Chinese school math. I’m not the Mom who wants to push my kid into academics so early on but my lil girl loves doing workbooks and I think that if she has the capability, then why not. If she doesn’t like it, then we’ll pull her out. No sweat.

Tee goes in for an assessment tomorrow. They have turned down SO MANY students with crying mothers begging them to take their kids in. I’m confident Tee will get a place as she is quite a smart cookie. And then Murphy’s Law strikes………

Okay, now I’m curious to know what school this is. Or is this some secret club kinda thing that can only be whispered from one parent to another well-worthy one?

Hey this sounds really interesting. I like the concept very much. After all, kids are kids (READ: low attention span) so they shouldn’t be constricted to a class or a regime. I think this should work beautifully.

Do share details of the school. I’d love for my kids (when I have them!) to be schooled this way.

      Good luck, Tee! :)
