Getting a toddler out of your bed

    By bigpumpkin | May 3, 2008

Our 3.5 year old girl STILL sleeps with us. HELP!!! What strategies would you employ to get her out of your bed? Allow her to cry it out? That would wake the neighbours and seriously, my girl can scream for three hours on and off. *faint* Perhaps we need to look into one of those adjustable beds that they have at the big I store that’s fun to make her want to move out to sleep on her own in her OWN bedroom??? *sigh*

Crying it out never worked here and all jokes aside my kids would wake the whole neighborhood and give me a serious headache. I’m sorry I don’t have any suggestions. You know I’ve been stuck on the couch with Alyssa since she lost her bunny and that’s been going on for quite some time.

We would take over the bed in our room upstairs but daddy is such a light sleeper and Alyssa is a restless one. Kicking, punching, even head-butting….you name it. He would be a mess for work in the morning.

      Good Luck!

You have to bear with it for a few days. It actually works for some cases.

Now that she’s 3+, she can choose her own bed, accessories, etc. A friend told us, that was the trick she used to make her daughter sleep in her own room.

aah…this one is going to take some time. people have suggested making a big deal out of her sleeping in her own bed…have her pick out her cover. give her a day on the calendar when this will happen and mark it off like it’s a big thing (and it is, lol). sounds thrilled for her, when you’re really thrilled to have your bed back. keep talking about it like she’s going to disney. hopefully it will get exciting or at least i hope you have a king size bed. :)

i can only tell u my experience. she slept with us until we moved to the new place. we got her active in the deco and stuffs, and from day 1 placed her in new room with younger bro. helps that she has a bro with her. had to sleep with her for a few days, then sit at the doorway and then further out slowly. helps to get a nightlight too.

i moved J to his own cot when he was 8 months old. I went into the cot and slept with him until my back ache . And after 3 night he slept by himself. Need alot of persistence and patience. Good Luck!
