    The starfruit helper

    By bigpumpkin | November 28, 2007

After she got bored with golf (yeah!!! after all that effort!!! what did you expect?), she decided that she wanted to help Amah pluck starfruits from the starfruit tree in the garden. Amah has two flourishing starfruit trees that give her many, many starfruits every year which she’ll take to the market to sell. Amah is proud that her starfruits are the only home grown, chemical free yet largest and sweetest starfruits in all of Kota Bharu. They eat them by the truckloads and try stuffing a few buckets down our throats.

Amah has been nagging me to eat more starfruits because of my bad chesty cough due to the flu I am recovering from. She claims that starfruit is very good for cough. I did some research previously on all fruits due to a juice lab business I was in and apparently starfruit provides energy, regenerates cells, is a great antioxidant, provides oxygen hence reducing cancer risk, cleanses your blood…….actually, this miracle fruit has practically every goodness you can think of. Don’t ask me for the numbers because they are deeply embedded somewhere in my laptop. Too bad I don’t like the fruit. The only thing I like about it is it’s star shape - great for kids!

Oooh I had no idea they were so good for you! This fruit is so common back home in Trinidad but scarce around these parts. I do see it on occasion but they are outrageously priced so I never buy them. My daughter has a nasty cough too. Do the lemon/line and honey. It supposed to work :)

I just love starfruits. This pregnancy, I just crave for them but the Chinese say starfruits are very cooling fruits, so better eat them in moderation. Next time u go to ur in laws house, pluck some starfruits for me ok?
