    Snippets from my little imp

    By bigpumpkin | September 30, 2007

The Hubs has a knack for losing things whenever we are out as a family. Temporarily. He loses things because he has the weekend duty of entertaining the little one. Anyone who would dare take on the challenge of being responsible for my little imp would never volunteer taking her again. Not even for an hour. It’s incredible how such a short thing can assume such power.

Of course, the Hubs always searches for the parking ticket after we’ve gotten into the car. Always when we’re in a rush. Often when we’re already moving through the parking lot. Why plan on searching for it before we even reach the parking lot, right? That would be so boring. So often we go through this drama of stopping the car just before the ticket counter with the Hubs frantically looking high and low for the parking ticket, cursing, and obviously very stressed.

His stress emanates to the rest of the car and I instinctively start offering solutions to where the damn card may be. Perhaps he left it on the information counter, or it dropped just outside the car, or it’s still somewhere inside his wallet?

Tee picks up on this and today said, “Don’t werwy, Daddy. Don’t be stwessed……….you will find the parking ticket.” with her most reassured tone. Full of confidence. Her Daddy is her hero after all. The little imp has a knack of saying things at our times of distress. You know, like, asking to see an elephant when we’d just narrowly escaped an elephant stampede, still high on stress hormones. Or asking us if we’re lost, when we very clearly are.

Which brings me to this point. Whenever I drive into unfamiliar territory, she would always ask if I was lost. If ever I said yes, she would then advise me to call Daddy to ask him for directions. “Mummy, I think you better call Daddy. He will know better.” But if the Hubs were to get lost, she’s all safe and secure, not worrying one bit. Such sexism is definitely not inherent in my family tree. Such faith in her Mother she has!
