Saturday Morning at the Lee Household

    By bigpumpkin | June 30, 2007

We went to renew our driver’s license this morning at the Post Office at Pusat Bandar Damansara. Clever Hubs selectively picked that post office because he knew it would be empty on a Saturday morning. We arrived at about 10.30am and it really WAS empty. So that took us 5 minutes. Paid RM304 for 2 driver’s license to be renewed for another 5 years.

Then we headed to my GP to sort my asthma out. By the time we got out, there was a long queue waiting. Oops. We discussed how we were going to control my asthma with some steroid inhaler called Seretide, some anti-histamine tablets, a Sterimar sea water spray to ‘flush’ my nose and back of mouth daily, my usual Ventolin inaler for acute attacks and Rhinocort to be sprayed into my nose to prevent sinusitis, which aggravates the asthma. SO MAFAN!!! (troublesome!). I purposely went to the GP and not an ENT to save money but eventually, the bill still came up to RM250 due to the medication.

We also discussed my ‘weight’ issues and he actually suggested I take some pills to kick start the momentum of weight loss for a month after which I have to maintain my changed lifestyle. The option of pills included Doraemon (or something that sounded like that!) which is a metabolismic enhancer. It has lots of side effects like increased blood pressure, palpitations etc but is the cheapest option. The second option was Xenical, which absorbs the fats (oil) from the food you eat and passes it out. Very safe but very expensive…….and messy. The third and latest option, Reductil, works on suppressing your appetite but also indirectly increases your blood pressure and palpitations. Reductil is also prescribed for obese children and is known to be extremely safe. I told him that I wasn’t keen on pills and will try exercising more once my asthma is under control. He said OK but I must, must, must lose weight.

Then immediately after that, I had to get “Yow Char Kuay” from the market. I dip it with condensed milk - yum, yum. Our Thai friends taught us how to eat it like that, Thai style. And did some groceries. Tee got 2 new fake Crocodile shoes! She now has a collection of originals and fakes but oh so fun! She wears them mismatched to school for style :-)

yow char kuai with condensed milk? that sounds gross. it’s like me eating roti canai with curry sauce AND sprinkled sugar. hahahhaa.I like to eat it like that - sweet and hot. Have a good weekend. We’ll probably be going down to Manhattan to explore some fun new parks/playgrounds afterwards. Esok have to go to Target to buy pressie for kid’s party next week. Hot and sunny!

You should try it! Hmmm….roti canai with condensed milk may work! Not with the curry though. Now, I’m hungry….

Aiyah Patsy, no need to pop pills, they are really BAD for your body, trust me. Once u r off them, ur weight will rocket up again. Come come come to me, let me give u FREE diet plan and exercise plan, i m serious  Yau char kuai with thick sweet milk, my, that’s damn fattening… damn high in carbo and empty calories.

No intention of popping pills but aiyo…..how do I resist that moo-moo ice cream sandwich everyday? Or the purple wrapped chocolate in the fridge? What if I eat and then just exercise like mad???
